SOTA ACTIVATION - "BARE CONE LOOK OUT" October 2020

Dave (K7MTD) & I rode our ATVs 12 miles to Bare Cone Look Out from the west side of Painted Rocks Lake, where we parked the truck & trailer.. We took FS#1303 up to the summit. Before we rode the ATV’s, we were joined by Vic (K7VK) and Lance (W7GJ) at Painted Rocks Lake Dam. . I brought a 17’ telescoping mast which I strapped to a tree right at the road. I strung the wire down to another tree –. A t he base, I put a 49:1 transformer to get the high impedance down. I used an LDG remote auto tuner into the rig. . Dave set up about 100 yards below me (east) where there is a very nice knoll.
