The four elements are one of my favorite subjects. I have made many art quilts and art dolls representing this subject , so I thought it would be fun to do a set of Owl Pals. Each owl represents an element, Air, Earth, Fire and water. The owls are approx. 7x7 they are made from my original pattern.

These chubby guys are sewn and stuffed with polfil. I added Eyes, heart shaped button beaks and wings in coordinating fabric. Rice filled felt feet to help them stand on their own are the final touch.

I have added beading, feathers, glass pieces and felt cutouts to emphasize each element. When I finished this project, I realized they needed to be displayed together, that's where my woodworker husband comes in. This beautiful display shelf is approx 17x17 with 8-inch cutouts. Spruce and elm were used for the front and sides of the frame, cedar for the background.

Each owl is adorable on its own, the four of them together are stunning!
