This heavily embellished art quilt is by far the favorite of my family and friends. This project started with a piece of fabric that was pretty on its own but I knew could be stunning with a little bling and texture added. I used a variegated thread in Autumn colors to free motion quilt the leaves outlining and filling in several areas to give color and texture. To give a little sparkle and bling, I beaded a few chosen leaves to really make them stand out. This feature is really beautiful when displayed in an area with natural light. I finished this quilt with free motion quilting vines and leaves around the black border and then hand sewing copper sequins to separate the background from the main subject and yes to give another dimension. My handy woodworker husband made this beautiful frame. The frame is walnut with oak inset and splines. This piece measures approx 17x21 with an opening of 18.5 x14.5. This is a truly original framed art quilt I believe it would be a beautiful addition to any home.
